Fighting Domestic Abuse/Violence in the UK

Updated on September 26, 2014

The Public!

The public in general shows no interest in learning the facts about Domestic Abuse/Violence and is slow to respond to Domestic Abuse/Violence, even where it knows it is being perpetrated.

May-be this is because statistics show that Domestic Abuse/Violence is being perpetrated in one out of three homes in the UK. And victims are reluctant to come forward and report it, either through FEAR of reprisal, Fear of losing the children or they have been conditioned to such an extent (By the abuser) that they feel it is their own fault . Some of the reasons for this could be the un-sympathetic attitudes of social services and or police. We are fighting to increase awareness and tackle the sociological inadequacy that exists in these areas. SEE VIDEO!

The Facts!

The Domestic Abuse/Violence situation in the UK today is endemic. Escape2Freedom-UK endeavours to change that situation, through straight no-holds-bard FACTS!

The Government passes laws that make the victim’s access to justice difficult in order to lower statistics. By reducing funding to police, thereby reducing manpower, it increases response time to and in some cases more than forty five minutes; (Ridiculous). It continually reduces funding to family Refuges, either through reducing direct funding or by reducing funding to local government, there-by reducing their donations to refuges. Refuges are, having to turn away hundreds every month, there by returning victims to the grips of the perpetrator and in some cases DEATH.

Magistrates and Judges!

Magistrates and Judges must be prepared to make ground breaking decisions and when possible, set precedent in order that the peoples are protected, victims are supported and perpetrators are made aware that this type of conduct will be dealt with harshly.

Our Country!

If our country is to make a concerted effort in tackling this difficult and traumatic endemic, it MUST be prepared to make sufficient funding available. If a law/statute does not have the infrastructure, funding or manpower available to uphold it, it is worthless.

Police-Social Services, Doctors, etc

Where possible, Police-Social Services, Doctors, etc. Should bring Child Abuse charges against a Domestic Abuse/Violence perpetrator, where children are present in the home! They must be prepared to instigate TEST cases if necessary.

Police response times!

We are currently running a petition to the Justice Minister in the hope of increasing Police funding, thereby creating more available Police officers available to respond in Domestic Abuse/Violence Cases! We hope this will reduce Police response times.
